Sprite is a persona doll representing the Twice/Multi Exceptional type of gifted student on Neihart and Betts Revised Profiles of the Gifted and Talented.
For the set of persona dolls representing Neiharts and Betts Profile of the Gifted and Talented I have made a second version of the Sprite doll.
None of the dolls in the set have faces so that they can represent the aspect of giftedness without also showing any racial or ethnic characteristics. The first version of Sprite had an embroidered face and she was not in the same scale as the other dolls in this set.
Sprite is an example of the twice exceptional student. She is exceptionally gifted but has learning differences and disabilities which make it hard for her to demonstrate her giftedness and make her studies an exhausting experience for her.
She has a great thirst for knowledge and gathers so much by osmosis and intuition. She loves the research but hates writing the essay about it! And she really hates the homework!
She exhibits all of the characteristics of GLD students observed by Dr Linda Silverman and all of Dabrowski’s Overexcitabilities.
Teachers may not recognise that Sprite is gifted if they only notice and try to remediate her difficulties (Right side picture below). Sometimes she is able to conceal her problems and so receives no remediation and is considered a student of average ability (Middle picture). And sometimes her giftedness is noticed and addressed but little or no provision is made for her disabilities (Left picture).
Sprite needs different educational provisions for both her giftedness and her disability simultaneously.

Sprite is always depicted as having an injured left ankle and needing to wear different shoes on each foot to illustrate the concept that she needs different educational provisions for both her giftedness and her disability.
